An introduction to commercialising your IP
Published: 23 March 2021
Commercialising IP is not an easy task and it depends on many internal and external factors, such as business objectives, type of IP, as well as the intellectual and economic resources available. The IP owner can choose to take up commercialisation activities on their own, commercialise by transferring ownership of the IP to a new assignee, or enter a business partnership and approach commercialisation through licensing or entering a joint venture.
In the fourth instalment of Minesoft’s Strategic IP series, Ben Rowan – Account Manager at Minesoft – shares some of his top tips on commercialising IP and shows how a patent database, like PatBase, can help make this process easier. He answers the following questions:
- Why is IP commercialisation important?
- What are the different routes to commercialisation? and
- How can you utilise PatBase to support commercialisation efforts?
