Patent Landscape Analysis: Cybersecurity

This Patent Landscape Analysis visualises trends in the cybersecurity technology landscape. Using Minesoft’s patent analysis tools to present the information in an easy-to-understand way.

Innovation in the cybersecurity technology area has grown at an astonishing rate and this is clearly shown in the patent trends associated with this space. With the increase in reliance on computer systems, the Internet, wireless networks and the technologies that constitute the Internet of Thing, it isn’t surprising that the likelihood of criminals hacking these devices is high – and therefore that cybersecurity has become a top concern for businesses worldwide as evident in the money that they are investing in patents covering this area.

Taking advantage of the high-quality and comprehensive patent data available in PatBase, Minesoft’s James Gray worked with Patinformatics’ Tony Trippe to compile this patent report on global patenting trends in the cybersecurity field. The data has been taken into PatBase Analytics V2 for an intensive analysis of the technology field, using the comparison functionality to review the patent portfolios of key players and rate of innovation in different jurisdictions as well as the patent citation networks to measure influence and visualise connections between assignees and their patent portfolios.
