Searching classifications
It is faster and easier to search for relevant patent classifications using the Classification Finder tool, now supporting truncation and proximity operators. In the Search tab of the floating tool bar, select Classification Finder. Enter keywords to identify relevant classes to search in so you can find records of interest. Introducing truncation increases classification recall and using proximity can refine your classification search to relevant classes. These codes can be individually selected using the corresponding checkboxes and can be combined with any search query in your Search History.
Searching and viewing independent claims
Use the Query Builder to search keywords within the Independent Claims. Alternatively, use the command line and enter INDCL=( ).
Easily navigate and view the breakdown of independent and dependent claims for major authorities, including US, GB, WO, EP, FR and DE publications, by selecting the red “smart” claims viewer link. Export the Smart Claims for individual publications by clicking the button at the top of the claims page. This will start an Excel download of the claims.
Identifying relevant assignees/inventor names
Search for similar assignee/inventor names using the new “Search similar” feature within the Browse Index tool. Lookup an assignee/inventor name and select an entity of interest, the “Search similar” option will then identify assignee/inventor names that have a one- or two-character difference to the selected entity.
