Green hydrogen: the future of energy?

Green hydrogen: the future of energy?

Modern society relies heavily on electricity and requires an increasing number of watts to function. The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicted in their 2019 report that global energy demand will increase between 25% and 30% by 2040. Considering how reliant we are on oil and coal, this would increase CO2 emissions thus exacerbating climate change. With this in mind, innovators are turning their attention to more sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions such as green hydrogen. The new German Ambassador to the UK, Miguel Berger, who was previously the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, stated at the Hydrogen for Life 2022 conference that it is crucial we speed up the efficiency of renewable energy, including hydrogen in order to move away from fossil fuels. He also spoke about the potential for Germany and the UK to work together in this area to develop and implement new, innovative solutions more quickly. Let’s take a closer look at what green hydrogen is and the different areas of innovation. More…

Minesoft wins the award for Best Business

The Minesoft team was thrilled to win the award for Best Business at the recent Richmond Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, and to be highly commended as Best Business for Innovation.

The annual business awards organised by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce – one of the accredited nationwide British Chambers of Commerce – are a recognition and celebration of regional business success. Minesoft also sponsored the Best Female Entrepreneur Award and co-founder Ann Chapman-Daniel – who previously received the award herself at the end of 2018 – was happy to present the award to Hala Allawi for her work in the borough.

As a global patent solutions provider, we aim to encourage innovation worldwide. Since 2010 we have partnered with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) in the ASPI programme to give researchers in developing countries free or low-cost access to sophisticated tools and services, like PatBase, for retrieving and analysing patent data. In addition, our services and tools help international corporations, law firms, patent search firms and universities worldwide, including many FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies. However, Minesoft considers its impact locally to be equally important.

The Minesoft team often supports the regional Chamber of Commerce and Richmond Business Investment District to boost local business, ranging from small businesses to corporations, such as eBay and PayPal, and the community as a whole. Minesoft has previously sponsored Richmond Theatre, as well as donating time & money towards local festive events such as the Christmas lights turn-on and fireworks display, a huge success locally. Our involvement in the borough is geared towards encouraging business growth on a local scale and improving the River Thames environment.

International Asteroid Day

International Asteroid Day June 30th 2022

International Asteroid Day has been designated by the United Nations General Assembly as June 30th. It is observed annually on the anniversary of the largest extra-terrestrial impact in modern history, the 1908 Tunguska blast in Siberia. On that date, an asteroid estimated to be 43 yards across flattened 770 square miles of unpopulated forest in Siberia. The mission is to raise global awareness about asteroids as well as to “inspire, engage and educate the public about asteroids opportunities and risks”- this includes reaching research goals into asteroids and planetary defence.

Of course, this is all made possible by innovations in the field of space exploration – take a look at three exciting innovations which are allowing us to deepen knowledge of space and asteroids! More…

World Bicycle Day 2022

The UN has designated 3rd June 2022 as World Bicycle Day, to celebrate the associated benefits of cycling and the invention of the bicycle. So why celebrate the bicycle? Firstly, cycling is a great and universally accessible way to stay fit and healthy, considered by the World Health Organisation as a pathway to better health.
